Drug and Alcohol Rehab

The traditional Drug and Alcohol Rehab center today treats the client’s addiction by focusing solely on the physical aspects and relying on therapies such as the conventional 12-Step Program.  Unfortunately, the majority of the individuals who leave these traditional drug alcohol rehab centers wind up relapsing and become addicted to alcohol or drugs again.  We have realized for many years that for drug and alcohol addiction to be treated successfully, it is necessary to understand the psychology behind the addiction.

Typically, drug and alcohol addiction stems from the onset of depression in most individuals.  Additionally, it is twice as likely to occur with women than it does with men.  It is important to recognize the warning signs that indicate the existence of depression.  These “red flags” are both emotional and physical in nature.

The emotional warning signs include:

  • Thoughts that indicate suicidal tendencies
  • Lack of  motivation
  • Inability to focus and/or make critical decisions
  • Guilty feelings and continual worrying
  • Feelings of unimportance and worthlessness
  • Crying fits (i.e. hysterical outbreaks) occurring for no particular reason

The more common physical symptoms include:

  • Unexplainable physical aches and pain
  • Loss of appetite leading to significant weight loss
  • Insomnia, restlessness, and poor sleeping habits
  • Increased frequency of migraines or severe headaches
  • Constant fatigue and/or poor sleeping habits
  • Abnormally low energy and stamina levels
