Alcohol Detox Center
The common line of thinking where a person is suffering with an alcohol addiction is that they must first admit that they have a problem and then seek professional help, such as the treatment they can receive at our Alcohol Detox Center. There is a common misconception in society today that the person must have the desire to help themselves in order for any alcohol treatment to be successful. This is a myth that exists about alcohol addiction. Approximately 85% of all individuals who enter an alcohol detox center for treatment do so when they are in complete denial of a problem existing, and oftentimes are undergoing duress at the same time.
It is important to realize how the addiction process works as well as the psychological aspects and issues of alcohol addiction. In most instances, some form of Depression is at the root of a person’s addiction. The frightening statistic is that, in the US, alcoholism results in nearly 60% of all women and 40% of all men who are clinically diagnosed as being depressed, so it is not hard to understand why depression leads to alcohol addiction so often. Our Alcohol Detox Center is well aware of the psychology underlying the addiction process, and we have developed our programs from that standpoint.
Another common misconception (or myth) about alcohol addiction is that individuals who have never had an alcohol addiction problem and undergone treatment at a detox center think that since the detoxification process is such an unpleasant experience that they assume that the individual would be deterred from ever relapsing again. This is completely false because alcohol addiction is viewed like an allergy to the body and an obsession of the addicted individual’s mind. So it is easy to see why the more traditional Alcohol Detox Centers have such a high failure rate with their clients.
At our Alcohol Detox Center, we are well aware of the unpleasantness of the treatment and recovery process. It is not uncommon for a client to succumb to any of the following:
- Blackouts
- Hallucinations
- Nausea
- Shaking
- Sweating
- Twitching
- Vomiting
These experiences reveal just how deeply the damage from years of addiction runs emotionally, mentally, and physically. Additionally, it is a true indication of how dependent the client’s body has become on the ingestion of alcohol in order to manage their lives.
It is important to remember that the client, who is suffering with their addiction, especially during the treatment and recovery stages of the process, do not possess the ability to make rational decisions. There is only one conscious decision that the addicted client is capable of making and that is to further self-medicate themselves by ingesting larger quantities (or stronger types) of alcohol. They need something to alleviate their pain that they are suffering with and nothing is more important than the relief that a larger quantity or stronger form of alcohol brings.
