additional treatment and recovery methods, techniques, and therapies
Chapman utilizes additional treatment and recovery methods, techniques, and therapies compared to programs that treat solely alcohol or substance abuse. At our drug rehab we are skilled at treating the professional client as well as the other adults who enter our facility, while at the same time examining a number of different facets of the client’s life. These facets include
- Amount and type of the substance the client has been being abusing
- Client disposition
- Client personality
- Length of time that the client has abused the particular substance
- Severity of the addiction
- Social interactive behavior patterns of the client
The Three things that are the most important to our drug rehab
- Accountability – The person needs to be accountable for his/her actions and the resulting consequences. He/she must break through denial or delusion that he/she has a problem that will lead only to institutionalization, insanity, or death.
- Responsibility The person needs to take the necessary steps in treatment to follow direction of professionals and those who have “been there, done that.” This means Chapman House staff is not only professionally trained and licensed, but have a majority of staff members who are themselves in recovery from an addiction or co-existing disorders. Each step of responsible behavior builds a person’s self-esteem, credibility with others, and confidence. These elements are all critical to recovery. One small step of responsibility will eventually lead to a responsible, self-sufficient person.
- Time The person needs to accept the fact that recovery is a process and not an event. If it took years to develop this condition, it will naturally take time to develop solid recovery. The A-R-T of recovery is accomplished under the supervision of our caring, knowledgeable staff.
drug rehab & detoxification
Addicts in rehab embark on a difficult journey fraught with unpleasantries while they are being detoxified, treated, and recovering. The initial stage is the detoxification process wherein the client is first cleansed of the substance and weaned off of it. One of the most common misconceptions in society today is that the assumption is made that since this stage of their treatment and recovery is so unpleasant that the addicted individual should be deterred from ever relapsing again in the future.
However, this is totally false since alcohol and drug addictions are viewed as allergies to the human body as well as an obsession of the mind. Our
drug rehab begins with the detoxification process, which is oftentimes very lengthy depending on how long the client has been abusing either or both substances. There is nothing easy where the detoxification stage is concerned as it is oftentimes a painfully harsh experience for anyone who has suffered with either of these substance addictions.
spiritual needs
Our
drug rehab understands the spiritual needs that clients often need and we allow them to explore their faith more deeply, while at the same time strengthening their spiritual beliefs. In order to ensure that our clients have a successful treatment and recovery, our spiritual treatment is comprised of the following 3 key aspects:
- Faith Based Drug Treatment
- Cognitive/Holistic therapies
- Self-Help counseling and guidance
These three are referred to as “tracks” and enable our clients to pursue their spiritual needs while utilizing certain recovery tools which our rehab provides them with. Some of our clients desire to learn more about their spirituality by focusing on the teachings of Jesus Christ and some do not. Our
drug rehab assists them in their spiritual journey while undergoing treatment and recovery by combining this concept with those recovery tools that we offer during their residential rehab.
Our Dual Diagnosis philosophy
Our Dual Diagnosis philosophy revolves around three key elements; accountability, time and resposibility. This will enable the client to leave our facility and return to society as well as enabling them to sustain long-term abstinence from the drug they were once addicted to. In this manner, they are able to maintain their recovery and sobriety long after they have left our
drug rehab.
Entering drug rehab
Those entering
drug rehab do not need to fear judgment or a condescending attitude from others. Many drug rehab workers have overcome addiction themselves, so they certainly identify and empathize with the struggle. Rehab provides a supportive and nurturing environment so the addict can focus on their recovery in peace. Outside the rehab center, society in general has also become a lot more accepting of drug and alcohol treatment. Addiction is no longer a taboo topic of discussion.
result of depression
In most cases, addiction occurs as a result of depression. Our certified and licensed drug rehab staff members know that it is twice as likely to occur in women as it does with men. Therefore, it becomes important to recognize the warning signs indicative a problem existing. The warning signs are both emotional and physical in nature.
The emotional warning signs include:
- Thoughts about suicide
- Lack of desire and motivation
- Inability to focus and/or make critical decisions
- Feeling unimportant and/or worthless
- Continual worrying and feelings of guilt
- Constant fatigue resulting from poor sleeping habits
Family Education Sessions
Weekly family sessions involving the client and their family members are conducted on a weekly basis so as to gain knowledge and understanding of the addiction process and the impact it has on everyone concerned.
